The Gables Yard comprises of five beautiful craft workshops carefully converted from Victorian outbuildings at the rear of The Gables, a house overlooking the village green in Pulham Market, South Norfolk. Great care was taken to retain the original character of each workshop as well as the yard itself, and in 1991, the conversion received a Norfolk Society award.
The owners, Pat and Simon Whiteside, take huge pride in keeping the buildings and yard well maintained. This provides an ideal environment from which design orientated businesses can develop and benefit from working in a friendly and creative atmosphere.
The yard is on an east west axis and the workshops benefit from good natural light which enables them to be suitable for a wide range of art and craft based uses, for example, painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, fashion and furniture making. Pat and Simon are keen for tenants to enjoy a long and happy tenure at The Gables Yard. An initial three year lease may be continued for a further unlimited period if agreed and tenants are only required to give . two months notice when they wish to leave. Electricity and water (where connected) are metered separately in each workshop. Business rates are also applied separately to each workshop but normally benefit from small business relief, making them very affordable.
Due to their beautiful location and their stunning renovations, the workshops are highly sort after premises in the Norfolk and Suffolk area. The workshops are spaciously laid out but close enough to allow artists to work together in a harmonious and creative community with likeminded people. The low maintenance buildings and affordability of the rent help artists of all genres to be able to find their own peace and inspiration whilst benefiting from the user friendly premises which still retain their individual, historical charm.
